'Mersal' release for Diwali?

While the entire industry is anxious about the ongoing strike as Tamil Government’s firm decision to not abolish local body entertainment tax, Sri Thenandal Films, producers of Mersal are worried because they have worked really hard to release their film for Diwali.

After meeting SP Velumani, Minister for Municipal Administration today, TFPC’s President Vishal said: “Our dialogue with the Government will continue on abolishing the entertainment tax. No new Tamil films will release before we get an amicable solution”.

But the major problem for team Mersal is that they have completed the censors and prints should be dispatched to overseas countries on or before October 14 (Saturday). Once the prints dispatched, the procedure gets tough. Once the overseas distributors organize premiere shows and if anything negative happens, they would face a huge loss.
